Here my answers to questions I get asked a lot:

How did you get started?

I started making jewelry with food and candy design around 2008 along with a few earrings and phone straps with animal faces etc. After a looong break I had to urge to try out some larger figures. Inspired by other artist who create clay miniatures and sculptures I started making dragons because I've loved dragons since I was a kid. I think a huge influence was the 1996 film „Dragonheart“. If you haven't seen it, watch it! It's amazing :P

What do you use for the eyes?

My first few dragons just had clay eyes like the rest of the body but I always found they looked a bit boring so I've ordered a pack of clear glass cabochons. I only wanted to have a couple to make a hand full of sculptures but since I could only find packs of 100 pieces, I kept making more dragons until I had to order new cabochons haha. I paint the glass with acrylic paint and/or nail polish from the back. I think the eyes I'm using now just give my figures more personally and are a very important part in the creation of my own style.

I'm not very experienced with tutorials but I made one about the eyes here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=erMK-6…

Feel free to use the technique but I encourage you to find your own style and design and not simply copy what other artist do .

What material do you use for your dragons?

I mainly use FIMO classic/professional, but also FIMO soft, FIMO effect and premo sculpey. Among those I find FIMO soft the hardest to use, simply because it can get too soft. I do like premo sculpey a lot but I simply find it harder to get hold of it so I'm not using it as often as FIMO.

Do you make the shells as well?

No, they are actually real shells. Since I'm leaving at a costal town I figured I might as well use some local resources and I keep picking up shells when I'm at the beach although I already have more than I'll probably ever be able to use...

Where can I buy your sculptures?

I've got a shop on Etsy but I haven't used it much yet. www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Nightshad…

If you are in the UK, you'll be able to find me at the Film and Comic Con Bournemouth. After the con I'll probably put more in the store again. If you are interested in a particular one, just send me a messange and I'll let you know if it's still available and how much it would be.

Do you take commissions?

Yes, I do take commissions. I've only done a few colour requests but I am open for more specific themes and designs as long as it fits with my own style and is not an existing design like the one „How to train your dragon“. I would however consider dragon designs based on existing non-dragon characters. You can find some examples in my galerie.

Could you do the same dragon again?

No. I might consider a similar design and style but I want to keep them all unique in their own way.

What's the stroy behind the name?

The name „Nightshade Creatures“ is a tribute to my beloved cat „Nightshade“ who passed away in 2015. I wanted a name that could imply dragons but would leave room for other designs as well.
